Challenge:
Bifrangi were looking to expand their capabilities and build a Research & Development Centre that would accommodate thier new forging techniques and material applications. This would support their expansion into new markets, Bifrangi believes the key to this expansion, is innovation.
Solution:
A vast open plan press hall was proposed to provide enough space for the state of the art 32,000 tonne percussion screw press that is the first of its kind in the UK. Attached to the press hall, a two storey office block accommodates 20 permanent staff and allows additional space 35 visitors.
Conclusion:
The Research & Development Centre has a simple design and provides 4840 m2 of floorspace, measures approximately 160m x 25 m x 8.1 metres high. This provides Bifrangi with a world class expansion facility including office, laboratory and workshop accommodation.
