The Parklands, Sudbrooke

Client
Jackson & Jackson Developments

Challenge:

The tranquillity and seclusion of the site led to the brief from the client to produce a design which responded directly to this and to create a new lifestyle rather than just another standard housing development. The site is part of the former grounds of Sudbrooke Holme, a former period manor house which was demolished; hence there was also a need for the design to respond to the history of the site.

Solution:

The design has been based around the public house/restaurant and purpose built retirement home as the centre piece to the development. Sudbrooke Holme is reborn as the new retirement home surrounded by an array of individually designed residential properties of various sizes providing sustainability and inclusivity. The exciting application of traditional materials and techniques such as thatched roofing to a new development creates a comforting edge to a modern development.

Conclusion:

The design of the Parklands responds to its context and provides the exclusive feel the client is looking for; whilst providing an encompassing lifestyle that future residents can enjoy. An affordable mix of both traditional and modern homes was created to provide a great location to Lincoln with the idyllic view of the countryside.
