Sustainability & Conservation

Sustainability plays a major role in the training, development and design approach of the company, a regional practice with a global mission. Stem’s design philosophy is centred on sustainable low energy buildings, from inception to completion and for the future life cycle of the building. Every opportunity is taken to deliver creative solutions to developments, which provide economic, social and environmental benefits. Particularly in today’s uncertain economic climate it is easy to lose sight of sustainability goals for any project. Because of Stem’s thorough understanding off all aspects of sustainability and the complete life cycle of buildings the team can advise clients on the most appropriate choice of products and materials to provide cost effective solutions and reduce environmental impact.

Stem has built a strong cohesive relationship as a team that helps to integrate sustainable elements in an aesthetically pleasing and simplistic manner. Through a continuous programme of CPD, seminars and project experience all members of the team are fully versed in the latest sustainable building technologies and construction methodologies to keep the carbon footprint of the building low. Stem achieved the first BREEAM rated ‘excellent’ building in Lincoln, the Enterprise @ Lincoln business hub on the University of Lincoln’s campus. Stem has continued this trend securing the highest BREEAM statuses for our buildings with careful planning from the conception of the building to ensure that no opportunities to reduce the footprint of the building have been missed.
