Challenge:
The Clapham Campus is located at Lambeth College in South East London. The college is located over three sites at Brixton, Vauxhall and Clapham Centre. The proposal was for new teaching spaces for Engineering, Sports, Beauty & Hairdressing, Uniformed Public Services and more to provide students with real world experience for the workplace. The facilities were required to be of a high quality to create a unique teaching and learning environment.
Solution:
A sustainable timber frame entrance design was incorporated to be innkeeping with the current building as a grand statement for the college. The new facilities provided a well needed refresh to the dilapidated modular classrooms and a further development to aid the colleges vision to fully establish a careers college in Lambeth.
Conclusion:
A new build three storey teaching block was erected with a multi-functional sports hall to provide young adults the opportunities to engage with employers in modern industry standard facilities. A vibrant interior design provides an inspiring environment for both teaching staff and students. Collaborating with all stake holders including college staff, students and the wider community, resulted in a project that delivers on social value.
