Challenge:
A new residential scheme was proposed to utilise a dilapidated 20th century site in the historic West Parade area in Lincoln. The client wanted a modern development that complimented the surrounding environment, whilst providing luxury apartments to local residents.
Solution:
A three storey design was proposed with the third floor to be concealed in a mansard roof to hide the mass of the building and provide more apartments with a greater floor space. Utilising local materials that encapsulates the surrounding area was essential to the development to establish a strong sense of place.
Conclusion:
The luxury 22 bed apartment scheme includes a mansard roof with feature dormer windows, a redbrick vernacular and grey slate roof with a curved corner element that creates a focal point for the development. The inner courtyard utilises projecting balconies featuring side mounted glass balustrades with silver stainless top-rails that provide the residents with much needed privacy to neighbouring dwellings.
