Riseholme Equine Centre, Bishop Burton College

Client
Bishop Burton College

Challenge:

Bishop Burton College required a modern, future proofed facility to house and train horses at their Riseholme Park Campus. The design had to be sustainable and prioritise the ease of use to facilitate the movement of horses around the new facility. Bishop Burton College wanted a contemporary exterior, utilising sustainable and local materials that would be durable.

Solution:

The design incorporates the use of sustainable local materials including, wood, render and glass to provide a striking modern design that is timeless. The use of glass draws in as much natural light as possible promoting wellbeing and providing a suitable environment for the students, staff and horses. The central building is design to accommodate the individual buildings and structures to to provide a logistical ease and order to the movement of horses around the complex.

Conclusion:

Set in the historic parklands at Riseholme College, the Equine Centre offers a range of facilities in a collection of individual buildings and structures which anchor themselves to the main rural science centre. These include a DIY yard, 48 Stables, Treadmill building, indoor and outdoor schools and two American style barns. The world class Equine Facility for Bishop Burton College is one that student and staff will benefit from for years to come and will remain a central attraction for their College.
