East Midlands Media and Technology Enterprise Centre, University of Lincoln

Client
EMDA

Challenge:

A joint venture by the East Midlands Development Agency EMDA and the University of Lincoln commissioned Stem to develop a centre of excellence for Media and Information Technology outreach activities which promote opportunities for commercial partnerships. A great emphasis was placed on stimulating public-academic relationships.

Solution:

Sensitive planning allowed a small catering facility, cinema/lecture theatre and gallery to be incorporated into the development. The creation of an IT research laboratory and a centre for international business cooperation further ensures apt relationships are created between the University and stakeholders.

Conclusion:

The simplicity of the overall design allows the front façade to be the focal point, creating an arrival experience to the businesses who seek to create professional development, conferencing and consultancy. Furthermore, internally the project brings together a range of different media tools to combine the artistic with the scientific, enabling more communities from across the East Midlands to explore innovative practices through use of these resources.
