Nick-named the ‘Tetris’ building by the local planning department, the Village Hall houses a series of group study rooms designed specifically for post-graduate and PhD students. The building is a three storey block arranged in a simple linear configuration with the circulation spaces located to the south to act as a heat and sound buffer from the adjacent rail track reservation. This also assists the building’s natural ventilation strategy, whereby riser shafts throughout the building create a stack effect within the spaces.
